Environmental impact is becoming an increasingly important issue across the globe, with pressure to minimize that impact coming from a number of sources: local and national governments, regulators, trade associations, customers, employees and shareholders.
We at BookOTel appreciate that the travel industry as a whole has a negative impact on the environment, which is why we have put measures in place to encourage sustainability.
To allow our clients to make informed decisions on the venues they book, we have developed an environmental rating for each venue similar to the ecolabels found on white goods (The Environmental Supplier Management System or ESMS). The ESMS draws information directly from the venues by means of an online survey. Sophisticated analysis then assigns an individual sustainability rating to each venue. A preferred rating can also be used as a selection criterion in venue searches.
The following hotel chains/groups are already committed; Handpicked, Q Hotels, Fairmont, Rezidor/Radisson, Marriott, Starwood, Jurys, De Vere and Eton Collection.
BookOTel joins a handful of elite agencies already ISO 14001* certified when we achieved ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 accreditation.
Certification to ISO 14001 allows BookOTel to demonstrate our environmental commitment and our innovative and forward thinking to our stakeholders and customers and better manage our environmental risks, now and in the future.
*ISO 14001 is the international specification for an environmental management system (EMS). It specifies requirements for establishing an environmental policy, determining environmental aspects and impacts of products/activities/services, planning environmental objectives and measurable targets, implementation and operation of programs to meet objectives and targets, checking and corrective action, and management review.
